Why I Started This Blog

I should say upfront: I’m not the kind of reader who finishes three books a week, keeps a color-coded shelf, or has strong opinions about annotating. I just like books. Some months I read a lot, some months I read almost nothing and rewatch the same three movies instead. This blog is mostly an honest reflection of that and not a performance of being a “serious reader,” just someone who likes stories enough to want to talk about them.

The name wordywicked has been sitting around in my head for a while, half-serious, half just a phrase I liked the sound of. I finally decided the only way to stop overthinking it was to actually build the thing.

Here’s roughly what you can expect: book reviews, mostly the actual core of this place. Every so often, a post about a movie, but specifically ones adapted from books, because I have a weirdly specific interest in comparing the two rather than reviewing film in general. And then, every once in a while, this, a journal entry, a tangent, whatever’s actually going on with me that week, unrelated to anything I’ve read or watched.

I don’t have a content calendar. I don’t have a five-year plan for this blog. What I have is a stack of books I want to talk about and, apparently, enough opinions to fill a website. Thanks for being here for the start of it.
